The Institution of Mechanical Engineers provides life-long learning opportunities for our 115, 000 members, many of whom will achieve professionally registered status. We provide the opportunity to meet, exchange ideas and innovate.
We support our members to develop their skills throughout their careers. Through this our members have been able to contribute to some of the most outstanding developments in mechanical engineering.

Learn to manage
The Institution of Mechanical Engineers is governed by a board of Trustees supported by Key Governance, advisory and Operations committees. The Board of Trustees performs its duties in accordance with the Royal Charter, Statutes and Charity Commission Guidelines.
Globally networked
The society is divided into different regions. Each district provides local members and volunteers with regular contact with the Society and a way to interact with the Society and other members.
Districts handle membership of the Society and are grouped as follows:

Message from the Chairman of the International Strategy Board (ISB)
The ISB’s purpose is to represent all the members of the IMechE who are resident outside the British Isles. I am elected as the Chairman of ISB on 20 Nov 2020 and double head with NEAR Chair until 23 May 2021 AGM.
ISB manage SEVEN (7) Regions and direct reporting to IMechE Trustee Board. They are America, Europe, South East Asia, North East Asia, South Asia, Middle East & Africa and Oceania, and the International Young Member Committee.
